Beautiful Grace 2 an original 11x17 inch mixed media piece on cardstock paper, created in 2024. Owned by a private collector, the original piece incorporates acrylic paint, crayon, permanent and paint marker. The headwrap highlights the significance of head coverings which have been worn throughout African history to symbolize grace, represent beauty and to provide spiritual protection to the wearer. Headwraps were also a symbol of resistance during the 1960s Black Panther Movement in the United States. The yellow facial paint, used throughout many countries in Africa, symbolize energy, joy and warmth. The expressive piece  celebrates the richness of Black cultures, incorporating African Adinkra symbols, geometric shapes, solid black lines and impressions of graffiti to create a vibrant portrait.
